The Transition Vocational Program is a life skills program that focuses on personal, social, and hygiene skills, as well as independent living skills such as cooking, baking, clothing care, work competencies, and functional academics. These abilities are required to learn about students with special educational needs.
The transition class began this school year, 2022–2023, with training for 24 Learners with Educational Needs (LSENs), 12 parents, and 2 SPED teachers. This training was called “Basic Waitering and Table Services.” It was held in our school AVR (Audio-Visual Room) in coordination with the Paranaque Livelihood Resource Management Office (PLRMO)headed by Ma. Violeta P. Yamsuan, with the support of the Barangay Captain of San Antonio, Leopoldo C. Casale, and the Chairman for Livelihood, Councilor Mark Gerald S. Aragon.
The 10-day training program began on August 30 and concluded on September 12, 2022. The trainees learned the following: identifying the different types of chinaware, types of napkins folding, flower arrangement, and table skirting. These learners were trained by Numeriano Jr. E. Palomares. To ensure that the skills were learned, all participants were encouraged to participate and demonstrate in front of everyone.
The school principal enthusiastically supported the training and encouraged the learners with special educational needs to learn new things and gave them the chance to become more productive individuals in our society as preparation for their future. The learners actively participated in identifying utensils, flower arrangements, table napkin folding, and table skirting.
After the training, the learners are encouraged to put the skills and knowledge they gained into practice. And with this training, they will be given an opportunity to have an income-generating project.
All participants received certificates of completion after the 10-day training.
